Cottage Escape

First there was the pandemic, and people rushed to the north to spread the virus like rats leaving a plague ship.

Then there were the rentals, because other people, eager to capitalize on the pandemic, rushed to develop every last bit of shoreline and turn it into five-star accommodations for the rats.

Then, well, all hell broke loose.

CottageEscape.zyx: Satan Takes Over is the sequel to TurboJetslams: Proof #29 of the Non-Existence of God and as such, is a short and funny novel about ‘cottage country’ with a deep and serious message.  A perfect (pre-)summer read that will make you laugh and think at the same time.

Magenta 2023

Available in various eformats (Kindle, Kobo, NookBook, iBook), but if you’d like an epub or pdf, you can download it right here! For free. (And here’s why.)

(If you’d like a paperback version, best to purchase it online–such as at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters/Indigo, Book Depository, Bookshop–where you can get a deal on shipping.)

(And please note that you can still leave a rating and/or review on Amazon as long as you’ve purchased at least $50 worth of stuff from Amazon in the past year; just be sure to state that you received the book directly from the author. Ratings and reviews are important because the Amazon algorithm limits search results to exact title/author until a book has 25 ratings/reviews and doesn’t include a book in ‘similar to’ results until it has 50 ratings/reviews. Which means that known books become even more known, and otherwise good books remain unknown. Sigh.)

(And/or without any Amazon involvement, you can spread the word by posting on Goodreads, LibraryThing, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms.) (For which I say, ‘Thank you!’) (And please let me know so I can repost your review there!)

“A hilarious take, based in reality. You know Jass has lived this life. It is way too familiar.  I laugh … as much as I cry …”  Jennifer Jilks, mymuskoka.blogspot.com

“The way your story escalates from darkly comic observation into something far more unsettling and thought provoking is both clever and effective. It takes confidence and skill to make a reader laugh while also asking them to sit with serious questions, and you manage that balance beautifully.”  L. O. (or an AI program)

“[This is what happens when city dwellers invade northern Ontario] bringing with them their entitlement, their environmental obliviousness, and their absolute certainty that nature exists to serve them.”  Jenny J. Conwell (or an AI program)
